This woodcut was created from sketches made during an art residency at Mojave National Preserve, early morning, near Cima Dome. The haunting beauty, the vast horizon, the wildlife amidst the desolate trees on the lookout for a meal, I was an observer into a world without shade, without cover. The beauty, the immense quiet, the prickly terror was mesmerizing.
