Dreams Across the Pochote
Dreams Across the Pochote, 2022, woodcut print, rope, 87”x58”x14”
This piece represents the connection between women of LA and women of Oaxaca. I did a residency in Oaxaca with the intention of meeting women artists there to build bridges between us. While there I saw the beautiful Pochote tree with its glorious flowers. On my return I discovered there is a large one at the entrance to Laurel Canyon, my home! The braided rope symbolizes the strength and connection of women. The two hands holding the rope represent the connection of the women in our 2 homes.
